How to Make Chocolate Banana Squares
Quick and easy, no-oven dessert that's healthy and tastes great!
If you’re like me, any form of baking is an intimidating endeavour. It feels like with one missed ingredient or leaving something in the oven just a little too long, you can ruin a good hour of prep. That’s why I’m a huge fan of anything that doesn’t require an oven and has a simple list of ingredients. Not to mention, while I enjoy my sweets as much as the next person, I want to feel good about the ingredients that I’m putting into my body. For all these reasons, this Chocolate Banana Squares recipe is a big favourite.
This tasty dish is a favourite in my house, it’s something I can feel good about eating, and it absolutely meets the need of that sweet tooth. The hero ingredient is the Rawcology Banana Crunch Granola that can be found on Rise Market!
What You Need
The beauty of this recipe is that you probably already have most of the ingredients. You need a banana, peanut butter (or another favourite nut butter), coconut oil, cocoa powder, maple syrup, pink salt, and Rawcology Banana Raw Crunch granola. That’s it. I’ll venture to guess that the only thing you might be missing is the Rawcology granola, but trust me - you won’t just buy this granola once. It’ll become a new staple in your household. Plus, it’s organic, gluten-free, and allergen friendly.
How To Make It
This is what I love about these squares. They’re so simple. First, you mash the banana and then mix it with the peanut butter, coconut oil, cacao powder, and maple syrup in a bread pan - make sure to flatten it out and it should look like soft fudge. Once flattened out, sprinkle some pink salt and Rawcology granola on top and then it’s ready to go in the freezer. Leave it in the freezer for a few hours and then slice to enjoy. I told you it was easy!
Tips & Tricks
A couple things for you to keep in mind to maximize your enjoyment of these tasty bad boys:
- Giving them time to freeze is really important - they should be in the freezer for a minimum of an hour but ideally more than that
- For any that you don’t eat right away, cut them up into squares and freeze them in a sealed container for a quick treat on the go
- Go heavy on the granola for more crunch, or light for less (I recommend heavy)
